In 1954, Memphis Artists brought music to new heights and changed the world forever. A legacy that still lives and moves in new ways through those that encounter it; passion and art still pumps from the heart of the city and its most creative minds.
Station 8 Productions is the next evolution in how these artists have a chance to create and be the change they wish to see in this life.
Pictured left is Scotty Moore, guitar player for Elvis Presley and producer of legendary music that has inspired creativity all around the world. On the right is his grandson, James Nicholas Scott Hein, continues the legacy as the founder and owner of Station 8 Productions.
In this generation, the world is a mass of technological chaos but the desire to create has not ceased; it has prospered and enhanced the creative journey in ways we have never seen. Nick Hein has owned the space where Station 8 Productions currently resides since 2009. It is now, at the dawn of a new decade, that the studio has risen to the top level of professionalism and production under the ideology and intention of the company.
The purpose? To pull something out of the abstract of creativity and into reality. It’s the most special thing about being human. To also support local artists and be close with the community of which it is a part. To pay tribute to the generations before and all of the incredible contributions that were made in the past. To preserve and document Memphis and all it has to offer.
The foundation on which it’s built is very special with the roots of Memphis music, but what truly sets it apart in the modern age is the talent of the producers themselves. Nick Hein has been writing and producing great music in the Memphis area since 2007. Since then he has pursued work in Film and made tremendous progress along the way. Combine this with the work of Drew Morris, CPO for Station 8, and you find a large well of creative resource that adapts to all styles seamlessly.
In the midst of the pandemic, Nick joined efforts with Bret Max and Drew Morris to go on lockdown as a crew and rebuild the interior of Station 8 to make it the studio it was always destined to be. Scotty Moore’s infamous Gibson ES-295 hollow-body now hangs above the custom crafted and built rosewood table where artists meet to discuss possibilities, creative intent, and simply just hang out. Scotty’s electrovoice reverb chamber sits waiting to be used on the right occasion.
A special place for a special purpose. Whether it’s the magic of seeing your film in 4k UHD through premium glass handled by professionals, or recording your third album through Class A pre’s mixed in industry standard ProTools HD powered by dual Apollo X8 interfaces…there is a way for you to find what feels right in the multimedia experience.
Now Station 8 sits. Tucked away in a little place in Memphis, TN that no one can quite find without looking. Waiting for the next good conversation, piece of great music, or film to find it.
